Abraham Moss Warriors run HAF programs in the school holidays

For the past 18 months the Warriors have been really busy running activities for up to 80 young people on free school meals to experience a variety of exciting activities in the school holidays -whilst having a healthy meal and learning about nutrition . Queens Jubilee Celebrations

3 Day community celebration

The local community came together over 3 Days in June to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee. We had a street party, old fashioned Sports Day, picnic and a celebration at Mc Donald's after a football tournament.

Over 600 people involved over the 3 days

Thank you so much NIF Cheetham and Crumpsall for making it possible and the local Cheetham Councillors for coming to all 3 days

When we finally get out of lockdown is there any new activities you would like us to offer?

At the Warriors we try to offer a variety of activities for the whole community to take part in ,including football, futsal, badminton, tennis, cricket, multi sports,archery,orienteering, cycling, walk and talk, virtual walking challenges, Couch to 5K, basketball, watersports, Hill walking , science, weekly quizzes ,Maths tuition, reading challenges, chess club, cooking, debate club , arts and crafts, gardening, nature studies, leadership programs, team building activities, You Vs Train project, befriending, social action ,playschemes in all school holidays, fit and fed programs and so much more ...

With a mixture of face to face and online sessions available ..

What would you like to see at Smedley park ?

We have been spending the last 9 months helping to transform Smedley Park for the whole community to enjoy....

Although we have done lots of work transforming the park for the community to enjoy ,is there anything else people would like to see. The fencing has nearly finished being painted and the flowers and bulbs are just starting to spring up again . We are in the process of building sensory trails and we have ordered a few benches to go in the park but happy to listen to any other ideas.....

Science with Astronauts Richard Garriott and Tim Peake

We are really proud to be working alongside the Ideas Foundation and explorer Richard Garriott

Richard has become the first person to travel to Space,The North and South Pole as well as to Marina Trench the deepest part of the Ocean . The Warriors have been fortunate to have been able to take part in Zoom sessions with Richard as well as follow his journey down to the Ocean floor. Through our science club we have also met astronaut Tim Peake and taken part in Mission X Train to be an Astronaut

It has been really tough for everybody during lockdown

Although it has been really tough during lockdown ,everybody in the club has pulled together and supported each other. You have all been amazing and I think you will agree it has brought the club members even closer together . Lets hope when we return to face to face sessions ,we can keep up this great support. We will also continue with some on line sessions for members who are not ready to come back yet face to face

Our young Leaders in Partnership with Street Games are taking part in a 6 month leadership program. Whilst we can not get back together coaching yet they are busy painting the fencing and building sensory gardens for Smedley Park. You are all doing an awesome job ,keep up the great work !!

A massive Thank - You to our local Cheetham Councillors

Last weekend, (March 6th) Our local Cheetham Councillors came to support Abraham Moss Warriors and the Friends of Smedley Park by installing a welcome sign made out of rainbow rocks and blue slate at the Cardinal street entrance . This is all part of the regeneration of Smedley Park for the benefit of the local community . It looks great !!

Easter Playscheme

We are pleased to announce that Abraham Moss Warriors and the Friends of Smedley Park will be running a play-scheme over the Easter Holidays

Over the Easter Holidays in addition to our normal sessions in the evenings we will be running 3

play-schemes from Tuesday April 6th until Friday 9th April Inclusive

Playscheme 1 football related from 10-12 and 1.30-3.30pm 45 places

playscheme 2 in partnership with friends of Smedley Park -Gardening, nature studies,science 10-12 and 1.30-3.30pm

playscheme 3 online 3.45-5.45pm -science,quizzes,cooking

Warriors reopens March 29th

Warriors starts u13s team in the Manchester Respect League

After the successful start in the Respect League last weekend with our under 11s and 12's teams and Futsal not looking likely to happen for quite a while yet due to Covid restrictions, that we have decided to now enter an under 13s team in the Respect League on Sunday mornings.

Great team work .Well done!

Well done to all the under 11's and 12's players who played their first game of the season on September 26th and 27th after nearly 6 months at the weekend . Both teams did very well and played some excellent football. Showing great team work and sportsmanship. The matches were both really good and the opposition both played well too. Well done!

Player of the match on Saturday was Christian and Sunday was a joint player of the match with Divine and Aronas.

You have all set yourself high standards now we just have to keep it up!

You all did yourself and the club proud .

A great big thank to the local community

On Friday 25th September,players,parents and coaches of Abraham Moss Warriors ,alongside our 3 Cheetham Councillors,Naeem, Shazia and Shaukat and Neighbourhood officer Martin Fitzpatrick did another litter pick of Smedley Playing Fields . Helping to keep it clean for the whole community to enjoy . We collected 13 bags of rubbish .Well done everyone involved you all did a fantastic job!!

Hopefully if the local community start using the bins more, we won't have as much to do next time though...

We even had a visit from Andy and Sarah from Manchester FA who came and joined in before watching the children play 5 a side football.

COVID-19 Secure

We are really pleased to be able to offer Face to Face sessions as well as online sessions.

We have been working hard to make sure everything is COVID 19 secure.

So, it is important that everybody is always following all safety guidelines.

All up to date guidelines can be found under documents on this site

We are trying to keep the face to face sessions running for as long as possible, but any

changes will be put on here as well as the WhatsApp page so please check for any changes

before attending sessions.

Abraham Moss Warriors become a Community Interest Company

To celebrate the clubs 20 th Anniversary in May 2020 the club has become a Community

Interest Company – There has not really been much of a change as the club were already

doing everything needed to be a CIC -we just made it more formal . Thanks to all the

volunteers, staff, members and sponsors for helping us over the past 20 years. When

Covid is finally over we will have a big celebration event .So watch this space….

Transformation of Smedley Park

Abraham Moss Warriors and the Friends of Smedley Park have worked really hard over

the summer to transform the park from just a couple of football pitches and trees to an

area that’s full of flowers, nature and science area, den building and lovely seating areas .

Thanks to everybody who helped as it looks amazing but we need everybody to take

responsibility by keeping children and pets off the flower areas and taking litter home

with you or using the bins provided.

If anybody wants to get involved in helping to maintain the park, please just get in touch.
